First two weeks quotes

Boyd K. Packer, Our Father’s Plan, pg. 27
“Without a knowledge of the gospel plan, transgression seems natural, innocent, even justified.  There is no greater protection from the adversary than for us to know the truth—to know the plan!”

M. Russell Ballard, Ensign, May 1986, pg.15
“In my judgment, the greatest motivator that we have in the Church is to have Church members understand the plan of salvation.”

Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 68
“The great plan of salvation is a theme which ought to occupy our strict attention, and be regarded as one of heaven's best gifts to mankind.”

Elder David A. Bednar:

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead; He is a personage of spirit and bears witness of all truth. In the scriptures the Holy Ghost is referred to as the Comforter (see John 14:16–27; Moroni 8:26), a teacher (see John 14:26; D&C 50:14), and a revelator (see 2 Nephi 32:5). Revelations from the Father and the Son are conveyed through the Holy Ghost. He is the messenger for and the witness of the Father and the Son. (CR Oct. 2010)

Spencer W. Kimball Men of Example 12 Sept. 1975 p2
To know the patriarchs and prophets of the ages past and their faithfulness under stress and temptation and persecution strengthens the resolves of the Saints (youth).  All through the scriptures almost every weakness and every strength of man has been portrayed, and rewards and punishments have been recorded.  One would surely be blind who could not learn to live life properly by such reading.

Ezra Taft Benson Ensign, Nov 1988 p87
I testify that as the forces of evil increase under Lucifer’s leadership and as the forces of good increase under the leadership of Jesus Christ, there will be growing battles between the two until the final confrontation.  As the issues become clear and more obvious, all mankind will eventually be required to align themselves either for the kingdom of God or for the kingdom of the devil.

Boyd K. Packer Teach ye diligently p 242-43
Most of us have been taught the gospel all our lives.  We know the difference between good and evil, between right and wrong.  Isn’t it time then that we decide that we are going to do right?  In so doing we are making a choice – not just a choice bure THE choice.  Once we have decided that, w/ no fingers crossed, no counterfeiting, no reservations or hesitancy, the rest will fall into place.

Elder David A. Bednar:
“…as learners, you and I are to act and be doers of the word and not simply hearers who are only acted upon… You and I (and our students) are to be anxiously engaged in asking, seeking, and knocking.

L. Tom Perry,  Ensign, July 2000, p.22 (ON CABINET)
In this modern day and age, there is a greater need for spiritual power than perhaps at any time before in our history.  Now where do we find this spiritual power?  I believe the answer lies in knowing and understanding the word of God, which we learn through a careful study of the scriptures....

Spencer W. Kimball (first Presidency) Letter to Seminary youth
Dear Student;  There is nothing more important in the life of a young person than gaining testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ...  Do more than enroll (in seminary), apply yourself, learn the beautiful and eternal principles of the gospel, and practice them fully throughout your life.
